"Grooming eyebrows won't make you look like a different person, but like you, only better."
"Never dye or bleach your eyebrows. Not only can it cause permanent eye damage - it looks bad! Tattoos feather and fade, often into an unnatural bluish-green color.
Auntie's problems don't have to be yours. "
Women striving to meet supermodel standards have yet another correction to make –eyebrows.
Did you know that removing your eyebrows could take you to the cops? This is because it serves as a wonderful disguise! Eyebrows can actually make or mar your face. A bit of shaping can even change the way you look –but you already knew that, right?
Question: I've never done it before, should I thread, pluck, wax, or shave?
Answer: Shape, don't shave. Do you want razor burn or stubble? Plucking and threading are the best ways to shape your eyebrows, although some women prefer waxing. Be warned, waxing is best done by a professional unless you want to wax off half an eyebrow! But threading just can't be done by yourself ...you need to keep both eyes open.
Whether you've chosen to thread, pluck or wax, always be conscious of the natural shape of your eye. Don't try to give yourself a super high arch if that isn't the way you naturally look because it will be painfully obvious. The best look is natural.
Ready, Set, Shape
To discover your correct brow length, hold a pencil from your nostril to the outside edge of your eye. The point that the pencil touches your brow is your perfect brow length. Space between eyebrows should be the same or smaller than the width of your eye.
The beginning of the eyebrow should be in line with the inner corner of the eye, the tear duct. It should end just beyond the eye. Hold a pencil in line with the outside of your iris and note where the peak of your arch naturally occurs. From the arch to the outer corner of the eye, your brow should fall in a straight or slightly curved line, depending on "the look." The first three quarters of the brow should head upward; the final quarter should head downward.
If your eyebrows are too close to each other, or too short at the outer edge, you will look strange, angry or even "stupid." Some people make the mistake of taking off too much at the outer corners; this slants the brows upward and makes the person look PERPETUALLY angry.
Stay close to the natural shape you have and refine it. Let your eyebrow extend just a little bit past the outside of the eye, and then it should taper and head downwards. Everything is geometrical; be careful of eyebrow length in proportion to eye size. The angel of the arch is not how you see it, but as how another person views it when looking straight on at you.
What the Pluck?
Make sure you have plenty of light in the room and do it when your pores are open. After a shower or applying a hot face cloth to your skin for a few minutes is good. Apply an astringent to anaesthetize the brow area. Brush your eyebrows upward into place. Carefully trim any excess hair above the top of your arch and the middle. Don't take off too much. Hold the tweezers at a 45° angle to pluck the stray hairs below the brow line and anything else outside the natural brow line. Tweeze the nose-bridge as well as hairs obviously outside the natural shape. Remove a few hairs from one brow, and alternate. This eliminates over-tweezing and achieves a more balanced look. Avoid over-plucking. Some hairs may not grow back. You don't want to pencil them in for eternity, do you?
Remember to pull the hair in the direction of the hair growth for a neat look.
Rub some soothing cream onto the area afterwards.
If a few hairs are missing, use a freshly sharpened brow pencil to draw in each hair using a light feather touch stroke. Begin at bottom and draw upward following hair direction. To keep brow hairs swept up, deposit damp soap on or spray hairspray on an eyebrow brush and then, stroke it through the brows.
For the fresh look, coat eyebrows with clear mascara. If you STILL need help, www.eyebrowz.com offers stencils and more advice.
