It isn't any wonder that the WAVE team has also been completely sucked in by the force that is Christian Grey. Ever since we got our hands on Fifty Shades of Grey, the fastest selling book of all time by the way, our office has been abuzz with Mr Grey, his tie and him in his 'red room of pain' brandishing a flogger.
For those unaware of what it is all about, EL James's trilogy is about a young billionaire tycoon who likes to tie girls up and dominate them sexually. He meets young and innocent Anastasia Steele and falls madly in love with her and proceeds to initiate her into his lifestyle while grappling with his own demons.
We are a group of strong feminists here who wouldn't dream of letting anyone dominate us, in any way, but that's the magic of fiction, isn't it? It allows you to enter other people's lives. This book is definitely not for the faint hearted or the puritanical- it has after all been described as 'mummy porn'. It is not a book with sex in it. It is a sex book.
WAVE has been obsessing about who will be cast as Christian Grey in the Hollywood version and for once, we came to a unanimous decision. It can't be anyone else besides Matt Bomer.
Ryan Gosling is too nice, Michael Fassbender too old, Alexander Skarsgard too cold, Ian Somerhalder too cocky, Channing Tatum too boy-next-door and so on and so forth. Matt Bomer has our vote.
And Tsering Dolker speaks for all of us when she says:
Matt Bomer is definitely my Mr Grey. The good looking actor who I have been dreaming to kiss since I first saw him in White Collar fits the bill perfectly. He has the sex appeal, the looks and that intelligent business man persona that describes Grey's character.
We all have seen Bomer rock his suits. Now I would love to see what he can do with a tie and I am sure Bomer has plenty of them. Wink, wink! Another point that works in favour of this actor, who most recently stripped down and talked dirty in 'Magic Mike,' is his killer body. A shirtless Bomer on the screen and I am a happy girl like many other women and men. Besides his hot bod and handsome looks, Bomer has a bit of a mysterious aura (it probably has something to do with his deep blue eyes) which is similar to the way Mr Grey is. I can't wait to see Bomer play the billionaire business tycoon Grey who fancies kinky sex, but is also a romantic at heart.
From Rubeena, Trisha, Trishna and Tsering, it's Laters, baby!
Why aren't you more active? Don't you want to be healthy? My god, you have become so skinny, how did you do it? My god, you have to eat right, you are no longer just fat, you are obese! Eat butter, the body needs good fat. Do your heart a favour, stay away from butter.
The conundrum of what is healthy and what isn't is one that we have tried to tackle this month. Most people equate thinness with being healthy, but as we discovered being underweight is as unhealthy.
There is so much of information out there, and most of it is contradictory and often times plain confusing. How do you figure out what works for you and what doesn't? And there are no easy answers, all one can do is get as much information as possible, and find that balance for yourself.
A balanced way where you are not constantly berating yourself for not looking a certain way; working out maniacally at the gym only to stuff your face with Coke and fries half an hour later; or giving up and not doing any physical exercise at all. For that is the one thing that there can be no confusion about- you have to get up and move around.
It is not about becoming thin or losing weight, if that happens and you want it, then great. But more important is to like who you are and be comfortable in your own skin. After all at the end of the day, if you aren't going to love yourself, nobody else is either.
Our Active section this month gets serious about issues related with what is healthy weight and what isn't. We also spoke to three experts in the field of fitness and got their advice on how to stay healthy everyday- even on days when you are sick or tired or just plain lazy. Miss Nepal 2011 Malina Joshi speaks to us candidly about staying fit and how the pressure to look a certain way and prove her detractors wrong kept her going on her path to fitness. T here are 12 easy things you can adopt today to live longer and our superstar Yogini Roshani Adhikary has tips on how yoga can help us increase our prowess in the bedroom.
We pay homage to our style icons down the ages and Lhenzi forecasts what will be trendy in the men's collections this fall and winter. We look at how perfumes can help improve memory, ease anxiety and increase energy.
All in all, this issue packs all that is good- fashion, fitness, travel and health. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you.
Stay Happy!
