Kathmandu has become a strange place. Outrageous clothing, wacky hairstyles, piercings, tattoos. You name it, we've got it. Just yesterday I spotted a guy wearing zebra printed shorts.

Seriously? Even the guys from LMFAO can't pull that look off and we've already started to see such craziness out on the streets. However, there is a new trend among youngsters now. No it's not the 'Angry Birds' caps, even though they're pretty cool.

The new fad in K-Town is 'tramlines'. Tramlines are a simple form of channeling (a technique used to create complex lines and shapes in the hair) where lines are created on the head using an electric trimmer with the edge of the blade against the scalp.

Ring any bells? Well if not try to picture Amir Khan in Gajini minus the 'Kalpana was killed' tattoos. Do you remember his hairstyle? BAM! Tramline alert! I believe the first time tramlines became 'hip' was after all the youngsters watched the Crows Zero movies because it's been almost 5 years since the movie's release and we can still see Takiya Genji wannabes on the streets today.

You can have any type of design channeled onto your head. It could be something like Aztec pattern to fusion artwork. And you dont need to spend a lot of money on it either, just take a printout or drawing of the design you want and take it to the nearest barber in your neighborhood, and he could do it for as little as Rs 100. Also if you decide you hate it, it's just hair. you can shave it all off or wait for it to grow out. So, if you are looking forward to a wild summer and don't mind fingers being pointed at you, you should definitely get a tramilne. Here's to all the crazy people out there.
