The temperature has been soaring in the past couple of weeks and so has our need to strip off and jump into the welcoming waters of the nearest pool. Welcome to our Summer issue. We talk swimsuits, sunscreens and more.
The heat is on and how! Our contributors open up about what they find sexy and we have three very candid sex confessions. Kathmanduites… Wow!
Nepa.li writes poignantly about the business of sex and we look at the alarming alacrity with which Nepali filmmakers have realised the potential of using sex and sexuality to sell their films. While Hollywood and Bollywood sell us romanticized ideas of all things sexual, Kollywood seems intent on using foul language, skimpy clothing and shock value to tempt us into the theaters.
Bhrikuti and Bikram traveled to Lukla to get us firsthand accounts of the changes taking place in the Himalayas due to climate change. Raj Gyawali writes about the growing popularity of biking in Nepal and we spoke to him about responsible social tourism. Saurabh Dahal took out time from his round the world cycling trip to speak to us and we are thrilled to have met and spoken with the people behind the World's Highest Gig.
Beautiful and gregarious yoga instructor, Roshani Adhikary takes us through the paces to get long lean legs to flaunt this summer's de rigueur short dresses and denim cut-offs. We have also included a list of essential workout songs to get you up and moving and for those who'd rather work out their brains instead of their brawn, we recommend interesting and fun summer reads.
WAVE has been in an introspective mood this last month. Concepts like ethnicity, federalism and identity were being used on the streets and in the halls of power to decide on the future of our country. There is a lot of confusion among Nepali youth as to what these mean. So write in to us with your ideas, confusions and issues and let's start talking about what it means to be Nepali and how much of who we are, is based on our nationality. We look forward to hearing from you.
Have a hot and happy summer ya'll!
