The Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre (SIRC) with REVA is organizing a second 'Spinal Injury Electric Car Rally' on World Environment Day, June 5, 2010. Last year's rally was a reviving event which promoted electric vehicles in the valley. Likewise, the car rally also helped provide significant support for SIRC, an organization that was started in April 2002 to provide assistance for spinal injury victims. SIRC runs entirely on voluntary support.

"This year, we are organizing the E-Vehicle Rally for two significant causes-the promotion of electric vehicles and support for spinal injury patients," says Udaya Adhikari, the E-vehicle Rally Coordinator. The rally will encourage the use of electric vehicles in Kathmandu and also raise funds to run SIRC, that is actively working  with spinally injured patients to reconstruct their lives.

At 8 AM on Saturday, June 5, 2010, forty-four REVA electric cars will line up at the Maitighar Mandala and will slowly drive up to SIRC at Saanga Village, Banepa. Other vehicles like Chinese electric scooters and safa tempos will also join the REVA cars in the Rally.

The main goal of the E-vehicle Rally is to make Nepal more 'electric vehicle friendly', to conserve energy and to reduce pollution in the valley. Also, the money raised is important for the SIRC Charity fund as it will help support all the patients at the centre who mostly come from rural areas in Nepal.
