On the occasion of the 2554th Buddha Jayanti and the 15th successful renovation of the Swayambhunath Stupa, a lighting ceremony was held on 27 May at the stupa premises. People from all walks of life attended the function to light a candle and spread the message of peace and prosperity. A minute of silence was observed after the lighting ceremony. This event was the highlight of the day and was broadcast live in most TV news channels. It was one of many other programs lately that have been organised through Facebook with huge attendance and media coverage.
