The new constitution should address the people's demands put forth by the people's movement and the peace process. If the constitution is not made in time then it'll definitely make a huge difference. In respect for the general interest of the people they should not make it just for the sake of it.

I am not much into politics and haven't actually given a thought to the present political situation.

It's more important to look into how the new constitution is being drafted rather than rushing it out unfinished. It must be representative of all ethnic groups, sex and age-group. We as citizens have done our constitutional duty by voting and selecting the CA members. Now, it is their turn to give back and draft it in time.

Paras Khadka, 22
Nepali Cricket Player
As a player, I expect the new constitution to address the needs of the sporting sector and the players that represent the country in the international arena. The CA members will be disappointing a lot of people if they are not able to draft it in time.

I have no further political knowledge about the constitution so to speak. If the constitution is not made in time then it will surely make matters even worse.

Whether the constitution is drafted on time or not, things will still be the same. Rules and regulations are only limited to the paper and it has always been the same ever since the
so-called democracy has been established.

As of now freedom of speech is an elusive thing. It's there but not really there. Anybody can do anything right now and the interim constitution is only the taste of worst things to come.

Zenisha Moktan, 20
Miss Nepal 2010
At the risk of sounding overtly pessimistic, I do not feel it will make that much of a difference even if they manage to draft the constitution in the given time frame. People have accustomed themselves to live in chaos and anarchy and even if the constitution is drafted in time things will still be the same.

Simrika Sharma, 24
News Anchor, Kantipur TV
The constitution is not just the law but the system that governs the country. It'll invite more political anarchy if it's not finished in the given time frame. If the new constitution is made then it should not only be limited to the paper but implemented as well. I hope it'll be drafted on time. But personally I do not expect any drastic change.

Milan Rai, 24
Artist
Any constitution regulates the flow of life in a country. If the constitution is not made in time then it will make a huge difference. There will be no law to safeguard the citizen's rights. As an artist, it can affect me and how I express my art.

Sunil Babu Pant, 37
CA Member & Gay-Rights Activist
The constitution cannot be drafted in time, there is no doubt about that. Regarding homosexuals and people of the minority sex group, we want the new constitution to address our demands. We've put forward clauses to be considered like citizenship cards for homosexuals, social security and justice for the people belonging to the minority sex-groups. If the members draft it without discussing it in the assembly and properly addressing our demands, they will only invite further protests from our side.
