My mum always asks me why I watch movies so much. I watch movies because there is nothing that breaks the overbearing banality of routine life so effortlessly.

Whether it's sordid realism or beautiful escapisms, nothing even comes close to what a good movie can make you feel. They captivate you, provoke you, question, answer and then satisfy (or sometimes leave you with even more questions). It's a total experience, often a revelation that always makes you see things differently or even in a whole new light. Whether its Tarantino's darkly humorous and elaborately disturbing violence (he's been quoted saying, "violence is one of the most fun things to watch") or Kurbick's sheer genius, nothing in the real existence can provide the trip, nothing.

This month, we've gathered all the knowledge and knowhows from our (short but substantial)
movie-viewing years to come up with the list of 50 movies you must see (50 Movies to See Before you Die, pg 54-58). The list includes movies from the last fifty years or so and is definitely not a definitive one, not even close to that. This is our homage to all the great filmmakers that ever existed. And if you don't agree with the list, go make your own.
