Nabin K rocks again by DUKSANGH SHERPA
Though he has been keeping a low profile for the past four years, we haven't forgotten Nabin or his songs. Who could forget Raata Bityo and Timilai ma? High powered and impetuous, Nabin is also a well-educated musician. Despite having a god-given voice, he decided to hone his talents by dropping everything else to study music. It's not just Nepali music he knows - his eclectic tastes range from Jim Morrison to the French composer Debussy. Nakshatra has a different sound from what you'll find in the market these days. Nabin, for one, does not believe in synthetic music at all, and prefers the warmth and depth of more organic music that can penetrate into one's heart. All the songs on the album composed by Nabin use live instruments such as the guitar, flute, harmonium, bass and even the cello. It's a rock album, but that doesn't just mean music that will burst your ear-drums. In fact Nabin is keen to show people that rock can mean slow rock, progressive rock, dance rock, country rock etc. And it's these different variations that he wants people to know about and that is reflected in his It took him four years to come up with this album. Seven songs were composed during his stay in America, and the remaining two were done here. When asked about his experiences during the making of the album, he was all smiles. Because his passion for music is so deep, he claims he enjoys every bit of work that goes into making an album. Nabin follows the saying of Jim Morrison: 'Music is the celebration of existence.' And therefore, he enjoys living and expresses himself through music. With tracks like Timilai Man Paraunchhu (multiple melody lines, with a single chorus and a memorable guitar riff), Maile Kaiyoun Raat (sweet song, catchy lyrics, superbly paced), Maile Timilai Chahera (soft and romantic ballad), this album is a sure instant hit. If you all want a break from the ongoing rap and hip-hop, and want a taste of music with depth and difference from the rest, then this album is a must buy.
