Just three months away from the deadline of the submission of the final draft of the constitution, our leaders still find enough time to waste at the nation's expense, fighting away like cats and dogs. Judging their divergent policies, current rivalry and aggressive behavior, the consensus required for the construction of the constitution seems a distant dream.

And so, they've build the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) to end this disorder for once and all. But it seems, the HLPM is just serving tea and cookies for its members on their patented chiyapaan samarohas rather than focusing on the constitution and the political deadlock. Voices against the HLPM are prominent, which does not come as a surprise, as even the senior members of the parties involved in the mechanism are unclear about its purpose and function. Perhaps it hurts painfully when you are 'politically active' for so long and are not consulted in the 'gravest' of matters. And what's the point of protesting anyway? Mind your manners people; just let the old men drink down their cups.

Still, the question of the PLA's integration into the army remains a stalemate. Pushpa Dai who seems to be buying time wants it discussed after the constitution is drafted (Oh yeah, he is soooo concerned about it). On the other hand, GPK and Jhalnath want to get it done right away. As the raging blood feud concerning 'when to discuss this issue' goes on, the constituent committee remains out of work (I'd be completely wrong if feasting on oranges in the front lawn of the CA premises qualifies as a task!).

As the deadlock thrives, anarchy lurks from its covers in the darkness. The remnants of the fallen autocratic regime seem to be fixing up their shattered spirits, as they recently launched a nation-wide strike demanding the crown be worn again. Really anyone find sense in condemning the devil to hell and bringing him back again?

The monarchists seem to be taking advantage of the current political deadlock to gain the sentiment of the people. Well, if our so-called democratic parties don't give enough thought to this threat then it is not unlikely that the popular vote will blindly drift away to the autocrats. With a hell forming right here on earth, what chance is there that the devil will not come back to claim for himself what he thinks is his.

The fact that Nepal is caught in a political stale mate has given the so called Democracy lovers the time to think as to whether its better to choose the devil(Monarch) than the deep blue sea (Democracy)because having been born and brought up on a diet of Monarchical Regime Nepalese sure know what the country will be like five years down the road with the King at helm of things but the people are afraid of the unfathomable depths of Democracy. With the ever looming threat of the Maoist cadres overtaking the military of the nationafter the P.L.A Integration, the only institution which can challenge its might. The people are unsure whether there will be any democracy left even if the Maoists are handed over the reins of the Government. Thus these developments are emphasizing the voices which are calling themselves royalists. So,its doesn't seem unlikely if we again see a Hindu State of Nepal with so called God's own elected representative.(After all Ex.King Gyanendra too has begun to look dignified and comparatively saintly in comparison to the Political leaders, probably due to his absence from popular imagination)
