Your parents aren't coming home for dinner and you don't have a cook. The fridge is near empty, and your stomach is something close to that. Biscuits and water just wont do. Starving yourself to sleep is an option, but can you really snooze over that great big rumble in your stomach? Besides, why would you want to lose sleep when all that is needed for you to overcome this ordeal is … leftovers? From yesterday, the day before, or the day before that, whenever.

Now scan what you have.

• Bhat
• Sag
• Cauli ko tarkari
• Tamatar ko achar

1) Fish out the karai, put in some oil or ghee. In goes the sag, then the cauli. Mishmash those together, then dump in the bhat. Mix real hard in order to release the lumps. Serve with tamatar ko achar.

2) The first recipe is for the more ardent. If you are a douche, we have a much less complicated list of instructions. You will need a pressure cooker. Yes, put everything in, add some water, a bit of besar for colour and leave it to cook for about 10 minutes. And pray that something edible comes of it.

3) Now, for those whole failed recipe 2. You better not have wasted all the leftover rice by taking that stupid short cut. Fry the rice in some oil, crack an egg over it and mix. Voila! Best with ketchup.
