Imagine a piece of music so beautiful that sadness wells up in your heart. Yet you are smiling because it is so perfect and you had the fortune to be in the audience. That was what  Ustad Sudi Bawra's musical night was like at the Army Officer's Club in Kathmandu on 25 January. Organised by the Indian Embassy and BP Koirala Nepal-India Foundation, Nepalis got a taste of Sufi music - the sounds of Islamic spiritual tradition inspired by Hindu devotional music. When Ustad was in Afghanistan last year training students in classical music, little kids used to surround him in bajars and ask him if he would stay there forever. We now know why.
