Just when we thought Rock and Roll was bowing its way out of the Nepali music industry, Sprite Band Challenge (SBC) came along last September, unveiling potential in music we never knew existed. SBC is back this year to feed us more of last year's rock salad, but with something extra. With Abhaya Subba Weise, taking seat as female judge, we could only expect that there would be a few ladies rocking the stage this season.

The selection phase for Sprite Band Challenge 2 goes something like this:

Twenty-two bands were selected from all over the country out of a pool of 97. These bands contended for the next phase, to which the best 12 bands made their way. There will be the six bands and finally three, competing in the grand finale for a sum of Rs 100,000 and an opportunity to create their own music video. The show is aired every Wednesday evening at 9 PM on Kantipur television.
