The Film South Asia was held from 17 to 20 September at Kumari Cinema Hall, Kamal Pokhari in Kathmandu. The festival of documentaries created within a span of 2 years made by South Asian residents was inaugurated by Shabana Azmi, a well known Indian actor who has acted in many non-commercial movies, and Shanker Pokharel, Minister for Information and Communication. As with the past editions of Film South Asia, audiences in cities others than Kathmandu will be able to view a special selection of FSA '09  through the Travelling Film South Asia (TFSA), in which 15 outstanding productions selected with the help of the jury will go to over 50 venues in the Southasia and the West.
