On 15 August, Nepal Academy hosted the first ever orchestra show in Nepal. With national and international students as the performers, the orchestra school, International Himalayan Youth Orchestra (IHYO) was also launched on the same event. Under the aegis of Gunma Junior Orchestra, the Republic of Japan and ACA Japan, Nepal, maestro Minami Shinichi established the school. Not only is it the foremost orchestra school in Nepal but the very first in South Asia itself. While international trainees prepared the students for the concert, the organising team included the conductor from Korea - Mr Chun Dong Kang, professor of Mersis Conservatory in Belgium - Mr Alex Van Beveren and maestro Minami Shinichi from Japan. The primary intention to stage the concert was to strengthen international bonds via harmonious music and produce world class musicians in Nepal.
