Goal: To sing Perseverant and passionate, Aditi Singh Sharma crossed off quitting as an option and is now singing her way into the heart of millions by PRAVAT J GURUNG
"I started singing in school and haven't stopped since then," says Aditi, "I always knew that I would eventually become a singer." For a girl from New Delhi, breaking into the professional music scene was hard for her as Mumbai is where all the action happens. Till date she has performed in numerous places like Neemrana Musical Foundation, the Revival show, the Elvis Presley troop, the Capital City Minstrels, the Marco Balderi concert, South Asian Heritage festival in Toronto, just to name a few. Once college was over she recorded a demo track, designed a cover with the help of her sister and went around various studios. Reminiscing those days Aditi says, "I literally went around town and dropped my demo CD everywhere I could possibly reach. I wasn't bothered whether people would listen to it or not. I would just drop it off in studios to everyone I met." Life went on normally for Aditi until one day when Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy called her to sing for them, then her entire life changed. "I was so happy when I got called. I rushed to Mumbai for my first recording and was nervous as hell," expressed Aditi. She even got a call from Shankar Mahadevan who is her all time source of inspiration, along with Vishal Dadlani, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Vishal-Shekhar and Gaurav Dayal, who said she sounded great in her demo CD. "God has something in store for everyone," says Aditi who recently came to lime light when she sang Yahi Meri Zindagi Hai for Anurag Kashyap's movie Dev D. Projects in pipeline for her includes work with Himesh Reshammiya for songs to be featured in his upcoming film, titled Ishq Unplugged, title track of Turning Thirty starring Gul Panag, work with Bappa Lahiri for a song to be featured in his upcoming film, among others. Aditi performed at the Sun Dance Festival this year and the crowd seemed to have loved it. "I had prepared a Nepali song especially for the crowd called Musu Musu Hasideu and everyone loved it. I did Hindi, English and one Nepali number and it was awesome," reveals Aditi. When asked what she thought of the Nepali music scene, Aditi was all praise, "first thing is everybody knows everybody here and there is just so much love in the music industry. It's just amazing how they all come together and have fun," she said. Versatility comes to few people and Aditi Singh Sharma is one of them who can sing anything from pop to rock to Bollywood songs. In the ever-growing entertainment industry of India, we hope Aditi will reach her goal.
