The 5th National Games were held from 6-11 April after a long hiatus of 11 years. The games opened with an impressive opening ceremony and spectacular fireworks. A total of eight teams took part in the competition, one from each development regions and also from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force. At the end of the games, it was the Central region, which emerged as the winner after receiving 68 gold, 35 silver and 35 bronze medals. Armed Police Force came in second while Nepal Police Club stood third at the seven-day long tournament.
