There is nothing more irritating than that layer of snow settling at the bottom of your scalp. And it's not just the hot summer day with the dust and pollution creating it; it's also the winters that creates that flaky dandruff. Then there are those problem with split ends, dryness and oily hair or even hair loss. Hair loss at our age? At this rate we wont have any hair by the time we are 60. With promising advertisements giving us hope that they will solve all of our "problems", we use numerous shampoos be it for "dryness" for "oily hair" or "anti-dandruff". We can't help hoping that it will transform our stringy hair to luscious locks. But by the time we realise that none of them work, our hair is already contaminated by the dreadful "chemicals".

This month we take you back to basics and bring you simple home remedies, which are easy to make. It's these remedies that can help whatever problem you are facing with your hair. Plus look at the benefit -you know exactly what goes into them!

To avoid snowfall on your shoulders
1. One of the most beneficial remedies for a dry scalp is a hot steam bath. So massage hot oil in your scalp. Dip a towel in hot water and squeeze the water out. Now wrap this hot towel around your head for a few minutes.
2. Put peels of lemon in coconut oil for 8-10 days in the sun. Then sieve it and put it in your hair.
3. Mix two tablespoons of cosmetic vinegar and six tablespoons of hot water and dab it with cotton on your scalp and leave it overnight

Moisturizer for tresses
(Warning: It might get a bit smelly and disgusting but any sacrifice for you hair right!):
1. In an eggshell: Separate the white of an egg from the yolk, and whip the white thoroughly. Then add 1 tablespoon of water to the yolk and blend until the mixture is creamy. Next, mix the white and yolk together. Wet your hair with warm water, remove the excess moisture, and apply the egg mixture to your scalp. Massage gently until the froth is worked into your scalp, and then rinse the hair with cool water.
2. Mayo ease: Heat up one half cup of mayonnaise until it becomes oily and then apply to dry, unwashed hair. Cover your hair with a plastic bag. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes. Then, rinse and shampoo thoroughly.
3. A Tropical Treat: Mash an over-ripe banana (the blacker the better) with a mushy, rotten avocado. Massage this exotic puree into your hair and leave it on for at least 15 minutes before washing out.

Keep your hair tips together
 1.  Boil henna leaves in mustard oil till they are burnt, the oil can be filtered.   A regular massage with this oil is very helpful.
2.  Seeds of lime and black pepper ground together to a fine paste helps   treat patchy baldness.
3.  Apply coconut milk all over the scalp and massage into roots.4.  Scrub the area of patchy baldness with onions until it becomes red.

Follow up by applying honey over this patch.
