Celebrating Womanhood with style

Established in 2002 by Creative Statements and with the theme "Unity in Diversity", Celebrating Womanhood took place at Hotel Yak & Yeti on 20 October. This year, besides awarding women achievers of Nepal, it also paid tribute to exemplary women from South Asia by hosting the first ever Celebrating Womanhood South Asian Region Recognition. At the program Sushila Hamal Singh, Toya Gurung, Bom Kumari Budhamagar, Dr Hira Mana Pradhan, Ujwalata Subba, Mithila Sharma, Binda Thapa and Roma Neupane were awarded with Annapurna, Bhagwati, Durga, Karuna, Laxmi, Mahamaya, Saraswati and Shakti awards respectively. Under the category of Bhawani all women who successfully completed Everest Expedition 2008 were honoured. The award recipients were recommended after a public announcement and the final decision was made by the jury.
