Easy way to get to the world–that's how a podcast can be best explained. Podcasts are getting a strong hold abroad but not so much in Nepal, where only a certain niche listens to it. So what are podcasts? How do you create, listen and reach out to the world with it? Do you need an iPod to listen to it? All questions will be answered. You just need to read on.

Some sources say that podcasts began to catch hold from 2004. Podcasts allow a person to create radio-like shows, give out news and do numerous other things. To create a proper podcast, you'll need a good recording studio, not to mention proper equipment of the best quality and a place to record, mix and put the show together. To get your podcast out on the world wide web and share your creativity, you'll need a website and a server in which you can upload it and offer it for download to people all over the world.

Listening to podcasts is not a big deal as they are free of cost. If you already have a link to a podcast, you can simply subscribe to it by adding the URL to the 'subscribe to podcast' option in the 'advance tab' on iTunes. However, if you have no idea what you want, visit the iTunes store or view the list of podcasts available and subscribe, download and listen. Note: BBC Podcasts are out of the ordinary! Though the term podcast was drawn from iPod (pod) and broadcast (cast), the good news is that you don't need to have an iPod to listen to it. You can also download and listen to it on your computer. If you're on the move and have an iPod or an mp3 player, it would be rather interesting to listen to it.

Podcasts have become the 'it' thing in the world and it's time we catch up to it as well. To listen to podcasts, you will need an internet connection and if you have an always-on connection then you can simply subscribe to it and new episodes will be automatically downloaded.
