Mystified Miss Nepal by PRAVAT J GURUNG
"The protestors just want some exposure, protesting once a year and stopping the pageant from taking place is not ethical. "I am shocked that Miss Nepal is not happening. Beauty pageants are held everywhere else in the world, isn't it? This whole protesting doesn't make any sense at all and is a useless thing to do." "We have been having Miss Nepal for the past couple of years, why stop it now? Why wasn't it stopped back then? We are loosing out on giving a platform for women who are still considered weak in our society." "High time Nepal got known for its glamour too and not just for Mt. Everest. I think this protest is unnecessary." "Through Miss Nepal, our country can be known for its glamour and the girls can get some international exposure. I personally think this protest is pointless." Mahima P Bhattarai, VJ, Image Channel "Miss Nepal ta hunnai parcha. We are living in the 21st century in a rapidly developing world. If protestors keep protesting about fashion and all, we will be soon walking in leaves like in the Stone Age." "The protest is based on silly reasons. Those opposing should come in for negotiation and then allow things to move forward. I think the very criteria they are protesting against is not right."

i think stopping miss nepal is just for expose of their organization in media. To stop da things happening in the whole world is worthless. every things in da world have merit aswell as demerit. protaster should think about the merits of miss nepal also. with out da any comment from former miss nepal participant about body abuse, how they know dat there is abuse of women. well i guess what we need to learn and put into action is: LIVE AND LET LIVE. its simple as that. i think if one wants to live, then one must allow others to live also, otherwise there's no end to this problem. Posted on:

the protestation is meaningful as the organizers are acting as buying and selling of women.Women are forced to sit under their control for more than years and next thing all the talented but poor nepalese women havent got chance to show their talent due to poor economy. So Miss Nepal should be postponed or all whoever poor or rich all should be allowed to take part Posted on:

I'd like to send a message to Maoist-affiliated All Nepal Revolutionary Women's Association. There are 100's of women and children who are still being physically & sexually abused, and forced into child marriages in most of Nepal's rural areas and even in the city. If you want to make a difference for the female gender, make yourself useful and go do something about it, rather than wasting yours & other people's time in something that's economically & socially good for the country. You are not only limiting others for a chance of a better life, but also proving your ignorance without any logical reason to stop the pageant. If you think the dresses worn by contestants in these pageants are indecent, maybe you should visit some of the strip bars in Thamel and cabin restaurants that disgrace the women of our society...You want to make a difference? Go, make a difference for a good cause. The stupidity of such people that make it difficult for others to live in Nepal is the biggest reason why students go abroad and do not want to return to the country. Posted on:

what i think that these contestants are above 18yrs and they can decide by themselves.noone is forced to participate in these contests.so those who protest and disrupt these events should also think of those people whoes dream is to participate in these contest. Posted on:

even though a decade a ago women in nepal no rights, they had maintained their status, their dignity. but these days, due to the large impact of modernization, we see women in clothes which almost doesnt cover their body. i know women want to look good, which does not mean u have to expose ur body? plus miss nepal is a pageant which only deserving woman (i mean who is allrounder and especially who has not forgoten their cultural and tradition values, and with a nice personality)should get it. so my thought is 1st of all miss nepal ko auta status thulo banaunu paryo,(by status i mean choosing the most beautiful woman, no curroptions, more training, better hoasting) and then people will come to see it... Nepal has always been known for its natural beauty and the glorious culture and history makes its a tourist destination. The event beauty pageant should be continued in a country like ours where women are still laking behind male in many reasons. Posted on:

I believe such beauty pageant should be continue carrying a symbol of our naturality to draw our own national pride rather than just copying from others. It would be better if we organise such contest in such a sense to enhance the status of women in our country to show them a way where they could stand freely together with male in the equal level. i dont think any achievement making a thing huge issue, lets try to move such beauty pageant positively being we everybody positive not leting anyone to make our fun ,lets try it....
