KNOW ALL
Sanup Paudel Everything you wanted to know about him but didn’t know who to ask. by MALIN GURUNG
A trained singer, he has learnt classical music from music maestro Prabhu Raj Dhakal. He has a Bachelors Degree in ethnomusicology from Kathmandu University. A quiet person, Sanup only speaks when spoken to and always thinks before he speaks. He hardly gets any free time but when he does he likes to spend it with his friends and his three-year old daughter Sarah. He has been married for five years. He started singing at school level, but it was only in 2002 that he actually started it professionally. In addition, he also teaches music at St. Mary's School. Quite the superstitious person, he recently changed his spelling to Sanup from previous Sanoop as per numerology. He has also added an extra 's' in the name of his forthcoming album to 'Rayss'. Is an expert in fishing and misses the good old days when he used to spend the whole day fishing with his friends. He wishes to go to Solukhumbu atleast once in his life. He doesn't have an embarrassing moment as such because he thinks that mistakes are something to learn from. He has a serious phobia of height and admits of being afraid of god. As a child he dreamt of being a pilot as he lived near an airbase in Shillong. As of now, he doesn't see himself in any other field besides music. The most unforgettable moment in his life was when he was recording his first song with his band Ashwamedha, in Guwahati about 10 years ago. Likes dogs a lot and there was one time in his life when he had four dogs as pet. Passionate about gadgets, he has a huge collection of them. His favourite gadget is his iPod and he prefers Nokia phones. Cooks occasionally but when he does he gets compliments for his mutton curry. When he doesn't cook, he loves to gorge on mushrooms and dairy products. Ambar Gurung, Eric Clapton, A.R. Rehman and many others are his musical inspirations. Composer Gopal Rasaily is the person he admires the most. Lastly, he urges Nepali listeners to listen to Nepali music and stop piracy. Fan Mail: sanupnmusic[at]gmail.com
