Mikhita Gurung of Prime College attempts to drink a 600ml bottle of Mountain Dew, while dangling from a rope. Her legs shake, threatening to give in to the weight of her body. She holds on, just for a few seconds, she says to herself while attempting to drink the whole bottle. Just as she is near the end of the drink, her legs give in and she falls to the mattress below. She had come so close to winning the grand prize, a mountain bike, but lost in the end. She admits defeat and on the other side, Prabin Hayanju rides his new mountain bike with pride.

The Mountain Dew College Thrills that took place at ten colleges around the Valley took the student and the teacher faculty by storm. Starting from 10 June, the contest was filled with excitement and fun for the students of the colleges that were lucky enough to experience it. Bringing out the adventurous side of the students of various colleges, the Mountain Dew College Thrills was successful enough to do just what it wanted to, provide a fun and exciting sport to the students of the Kathmandu Valley.

The challenges were packed with excitement, where students were made to walk on an iron rod while drinking a bottle of Mountain Dew until it finished. That was just the beginning, the later games were harder as students had to climb a rope and drink a full bottle and climb a net and grab a bottle. The last game of the event was hanging from a horizontal rod and moving to the other end and grabbing a bottle of Dew and returning to the starting point. Many students participated, some won and some lost. Mountain Dew provided various prizes to students who were able to complete only one game, but a student, who could complete all the games, would win the grand prize of a mountain bike.

Prior to this, College Thrills has been organised two times before in 2005 and 2006. Hosted by PN Promoters Nepal, the event ran across ten colleges. Greenfield National College was where the event started with winner Ranjan Shrestha. Then it was Acme Engineering College where Dipendra Kunwar took home the mountain bike. The fourth day, the event took place in Prime College with winner Prabin Hayanju. Universal College experienced the fifth day with winner Sandeep Shrestha. The sixth college was DAV College where Rajkumar Sapkota took home the glorious prize.

Mainly done for brand building, the Mountain Dew College Thrills took the colleges of Kathmandu Valley into a new world of excitement.

"This is a very exciting and fun event. I can't wait to try out the rope game," said Sacheet of Greenfield National College. With Dew flying through the air and cheers vibrating from the mass of college students packed together, the Mountain Dew College Thrills came to life through the hustle of studies and college life.

"College Thrills is different and it is thrilling to be a part of it, I hope it is an annual event as it gives us a chance to enjoy something apart from our busy college life," says Dipesh Pradhan of DAV College while watching a friend have a go at balancing himself.

I took part and I lost but who cares. The only thing that matters is having fun and that what I got. I hope that the events like this gonna continue in coming days which will help to spice up the busy life that we are living these days
