Partyin’ with PartyNepal by AARTI BASNYAT
The concept of PartyNepal came up when Robin, the ever-adventurous soul, was backpacking across Europe—one of his favourite pastimes—and reached Delhi. There he decided to log on to Nepali websites to find out exactly what was happening in our country. He definitely found out what was happening. He found the country's political situation, its stand on social issues and even dozens of people to chat with but the one thing he couldn't, for the life of him, find was the social scene in Nepal. Not the social scene that would interest academics or politicians but a teenager. Where were the parties? Who was wearing what? Who was being seen with whom? These were questions whose answers Robin was unable to find on the net. He then hit upon the idea for a website which could answer all these questions. Hanging out at the Himalayan Java Coffee house Robin was able to meet up with Mandil and Bhusan and share his dream only to find the other two as enthusiastic about the idea as he was. The rest, as they say, was history.
Two years since their first party and still partying on, the three businessmen seem to be more than happy with their company and their lifestyles. Their business is doing well and they are completely independent. As Mandil says " We are doing quite well for ourselves, atleast we don't have to ask our parents for money." "Yeah, I can afford to backpack across Europe once a year. We are satisfied," Robin quips in. On their 2nd anniversary on 2 April this year the boys have decided to celebrate a quiet victory unlike last year when they let the world know of their existence and conquering of the party scene in Nepal, which they helped create. The plans for the company however are big. PartyNepal is planning to go global and organise parties not only in Nepal but also all over the world. They plan on expanding their brand to encompass the world. There are nepalis all over the world and all of them love partying. As Mandil says " We will try to organise parties all over the world. It will be organised by Nepalis for Nepalis. After all, why should PartyNepal be restricted to Nepal?'. This year these three boys plan to take on the world and if their success in Nepal is anything to go by, they probably already have another victory on their hands. | ||||||||||||||||||||
