Summer days are here again and the heat seems to be unavoidable. The coming sweltering months, our life will revolve around chilled drinks, paper-thin clothes and arguments about which way the fan should face. In Kathmandu, we face the brunt of the heat wave, stuck for hours on end in never-ending traffic with the sun beating down on us. There is absolutely no escaping the sun's rage.
Well not exactly. There are, of course, the serene blue waters of the swimming pools to take refuge in. Keeping in mind that swimming pools are the places to see and be seen in, this summer, we bring to you a new take on swimsuit fashion. Our feature, Swim in Style, helps you in finding the right swimsuit for your body type, well, very easy. Flaunting that perfect butterfly stroke or simply lounging by the poolside will never be the same for you with the tips we offer. Fashion is all about knowing your body and the styles that suit you best, so changing into a fashionista or a stylish dude is just a matter of flipping through our pages. Once you've got your gear, we also tell you where to go to show it off.
Apart from the heat, the other factor we can't escape from lately is politics, especially at this time in Nepal. Every local television channel flashes out news after breaking news, each newspaper has headlines about the on-going shuffle. We might try to elude reality but being the present and future of the country, our responsibility doesn't just stop with being a proud voter.
We have made a choice, and now we need to bear with the outcome of it. The heat must be glaring down on the politicians but it's searing us as well. The choices we've made compel us to sit up and pay attention. There is no sitting back and praying to the gods to make things better because this time, control is in our hands. We have to be alert so that nothing wrong is done like in the past.
Phew! The heat is definitely on, isn't it?
