The Challenge champion
Suraj Shrestha of 9Double7 won the Rs 15,000 cash prize for Manifesto Challenge organised by WAVE with Samudaya.org. The Challenge was launched to encourage Nepali hip-hop artistes to take their craft more seriously so that it doesn't end up being just another trend. From all the songs that were submitted, 9Double7's song Nepali bhayera hera stood out because of its powerful lyrics, beat and spirit. 9Double7 has also worked with Nepsydaz and Jehova. "Winning this contest means a lot to me," said Suraj, "To me, rapping is a way of expressing my mind, I wrote about what is going on the country right now.
