Days later, the music still reverberates in my head. It was definitely one of the best cultural life-affirming events I've ever been to and Bobin and the Mantra from Nepal rocked the biggest rock festival of Japan in the hills of Nigata with the message of peace, love and respect.

The concert started at noon sharp, and dressed in hemp T-shirts, Bobin and the Mantra walked on to the Field of Heaven stage to thunderous applause. Thousands moved closer to the stage as Bobin, the vocalist and guitarist, started blowing a conch shell, then suddenly started their hit number Dhamma. The tabla and sitar hit it on cue and the solos had us, the audience, cheering till we grew hoarse. There are many stages at this venue and the Green Stage, which is the biggest, is where Foo Fighters and Coldplay have also performed. Majority of the people at the concert were Japanese but they loved Bobin and the Mantra. The day had been cloudy so far but the even the heavens seemed to applaud them as the sun shone gently when they started Relaima. It made us Nepalis long for home again.
