A choice, whether big or small, right or wrong, impulsive or well thought out, gives us independence. It takes us somewhere, so we are never the same person again. But, scared of drawing the shortest straw, we try to make the 'correct' choice at the first go to avoid the regret of making a mistake. If only life laid out the consequences to us before we made up our minds. Sigh.
We can't do much about it now, but in this issue we try to make life a tad easier for you. We bring to you an overview of various study options available in Nepal in our feature titled Choice Abound. We've tried to answer important questions such as requirements, scope, and earning potential in various fields.
Moving on to another important decision that could change the course of our life—marriage. No we aren't introducing a matrimonial section in our magazine but talking about two celebrities who made the decision to marry outside their caste. We can't choose with who we fall in love and neither can most of us choose who we marry in our society. Still predominantly governed by the caste system, marriages in Nepal are family affairs, rather than personal ones. Our exclusive feature Happily Ever After focuses on the love stories of Deepesh Kishor Bhattarai and Suraj Singh Thakuri which amply illustrate that, in matters of the heart, society's norms have no space.
Finally, let me introduce you to the WAVE Youth Icon survey we are conducting. Through this, we want to find people who have made a mark in their fields through their work. Your nomination might help someone you appreciate be the WAVE Youth Icon. Choose, nominate and exercise your freedom of expression.
May it be the correct one!
