What is the chief export of Nepal? As of late, watching the throngs of Nepali artists flying abroad to perform and to tour far off lands, we have to rightly conclude: Music. Nepali artists are touring foreign lands like never before, surely a welcoming trend by every measure. And right about now, both the sides of the Atlantic is teeming with Nepali artists and swaying to the melody of Nepali music.

Pop favorites Kranti Ale and Mausami Gurung, both of the Chyangba fame, are touring Europe all throughout this July. Accompanying them throughout the length of their month long extensive tour is DJ Robin, who will be scratching his turntables in countries like Belgium and Germany. Their tour which is in aid of Helpless Children Mother Center, Kathmandu, will take them to the hip and happening cities of the both countries.

On the west side of Atlantic, in US, crooners, ballad kings and soul stirrers with the likes of Gems Pradhan, Yogeshor Amatya, Dipesh Kishor Bhattarai, Sugam Pokharel, master melody conjuror Nhyoo Bajracharya, Sabin Rai and their back up bands are dishing out great music in various cities such as Dallas, Las Vegas, New York, Washington DC, Denver and many other cities. Their two months massive tour, aptly titled USA Tour 2007, will undoubtedly charm many old time listeners and add many new lovers and admirers.

All in all, it's great that finally Nepali music is getting the world stage it so rightly deserves. But still one concern remains, while it's good that they will be playing mostly for the home grown folks, how about jazzing up their repertoire and playing for the kuires as well?
