From afar, colorful balloons were bobbing about and inflatable shapes in the form of animals were smiling down – the Hyatt Ground at Bouddha on 9 February  was in full swing, celebrating Tibet's glorious new year Lhosar. The Grand Lhosar Fiesta 2008 held a concert ranging from fashion showcases to music performances like the Shambhala band with its tribal-rock beats. Families and friends, Tibetans and non-Tibetans, sprawled themselves across the lush, wide lawn, eating and drinking – clearly soaking up the celebratory air. On Tibet's festival of new beginnings, it was this vivacious community spirit that most stood out.
