Pants

There was a time when a just-bought look was what people liked about jeans. It's the opposite that sells today. Dirty-looking, faded and torn jeans, collectively called grunge-type, are popular among men these days while skinny, tight-fitting jeans accompanied by knee-length boots or ballerina shoes are the in-thing for women.

Skinny jeans have finally managed to take over the bootcut jeans which were otherwise considered an all time favorite.  A bit of embroidery on the pockets, some shrinkage on thighs, stonewash color, and mid-rise length are the features generally found in the jeans that are demanded. Women look for stretchable denims for their snug fit while men look for non-stretchable, semi vintage-old looking straight jeans.

Peddle pushers or Capris or quarter length pants with embellished tie-leg are also the in-thing in women's denim wear. These pants generally come with coin detailing with embedded studs. You can find cool capris at Bossini and Benetton, both at Durbarmarg. Look out for their new collection coming in for summer in the first week of March.

The price differs according to the brands but on an average, you can get these pants in a range of Rs 650-5000. The expensive ones are generally from well-known brands such as Pepe, Wrangler, Lee, and Levi's. The moderate ones (in the range of Rs 1200-3500) comprise of brands like Diesel, American Eagle and Armani Exchange, while the rest Thai and Chinese brands are in the middle-class range. Oops in Kathmandu Mall and Ice and Fire have a good collection of such jeans.

Jackets

The trend of wearing jackets has also changed with time. Today people don't just wear jackets to keep themselves warm but also to look trendy and cool. Probably the second most worn attire in denim, a well cut denim jacket never goes out of style. Coat-style semi-formal denim jackets are in fashion these days for men. While biker-style fitting jackets with zippers on cuff, neck, and around waistline are attracting the ladies.  Varying in length, over coat-styled jeans jackets are also a hot favorite of women. Boys go for faded jackets with leather detailing while girls like to wear dark-colored jackets that rightly balance their attitude and style. These jackets for men and women come in a range of Rs 1390-2000. Ginger in Bluebird Mall and UFO outlets stock on the biker-style jackets while at Labels, Together, Orange and Angel Face, you can get varieties of jackets for men.

Skirts

It's March and the weather's getting warmer just the perfect time to flaunt those legs in a denim skirt. Be it a long gypsy skirt or barely there minis, denim transforms when styled into a skirt. Kathmandu likes her jeans skirt in short-length tight minis with or without pleats. Slit in the front, side or back and embroidered pockets and turn-ups add design to these skirts. Gossip and Benetton provide a variety of design in skirts that cost around Rs 1100-2000. This summer, let your legs breathe and look chic in cute denim skirts.
