Pandit Shalil Shankar's fingers seemed to float on the sitar strings as he opened for his first ever concert in Nepal on February 14. A disciple of the sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, Shalil's mastery of the art form mesmerized the audience to warm the chilly evening in Kathmandu. Accompanying him on tabala was our very own 'tabala tantrik' Navaraj Gurung. Organized by Earthbeat Art Science Series, Shalil performed a piece dedicated to love and captured the ethos of the emotion to the dot.
