Firsts are a strange blend of excitement and apprehensions. The thrill of standing up to a new challenge is marred by the doubt of making a mistake. I guess that's why pencils have erasers at the end and keyboards come with a backspace key.  And this past month has been a first for many things. Seeing snow in Kathmandu for instance or spending days and nights in perpetual darkness. But through it all this has been fun and the pages ahead will confirm so.

A balance of entertainment and information, this issue highlights nineteen finalist of Miss Nepal 2007 taking a step towards the limelight with their first interview. One among these girls will earn her spot in the sun, so get ready to make your pick. Similarly, Saraswoti Lower Secondary School in Khawa for the first time has a library in their school. Read about how a group of students of the Ace Social Service Club made a difference in their lives.

We also have Adrian Pradhan and The Axe Band talk about their firsts in the industry and their respective lives in Know All and Bandwagon. Also featured are Ozomatli, the Grammy winning band, and the British writer Bali Rai speaking about their maiden visit to our country. Young and influential in their own rights, these international personalities not only encountered novelty themselves but created new experiences for the youth of the Valley. Journalism as a vocation option fills the career page for those who want to be the first to know and inform.

Yes there are many firsts in this issue. The most vital yet memorable, the scariest yet so short lived it passes by in the blink of an eye; or could that be because there are only 28 days in February? Anyways, cheers to firsts and hope the rest is as fun as this has been.
