Bike and scooter enthusiasts have long sung the praises of the two-wheeler: they're stylish, economical, fast, easy to ride, and ideal if you're young and have places to go.

But choosing the right two-wheeler is a difficult—and very personal—task. While our cover bike is a stunning custom-made cruiser, there are plenty of simpler, more realistic options in the market. So many options, in fact, that finding the perfect one is almost as hard as finding the perfect boyfriend or girlfriend. Long-time riders will be the first to tell you how important it is to make sure your bike's looks, capabilities, maintenance budget, and attitude compliment your needs.

If trawling through long lists of specs trying to figure out which bike is the best for you is a daunting prospect, not to worry; WAVE Rides to the rescue, with our handy guide of 20 bikes and scooters.

The December morning chill was just lifting as we gathered at Godavari Village Resort with an eager group of test riders and a whole array of bikes. Each bike was taken for a spin by three of our eight test riders: Ameet, Manchin, Pravin, Rekesh, Monalisa, Alka, Prerana, and our special guest rider, the current Miss Nepal Sugarika KC. The riders then gave us their comments, and rated each bike's features on a scale of one to five, five being the best. All our riders are bike and/or scooter enthusiasts, and despite their own personal preferences were willing to give anything with two wheels a whirl.
