Talents, Emerge and Ganatantra by LOCHAN RIJAL
Talents 4 is a collection of nine new singers: Jabeek, Asif Shah, Ashusen Lama, Amol Sapkota, Subhash Pradhan, Rajesh Tiwari, Raju Shrestha, Shishir Shrestha and Manu Panthi.Pahilo Maya, Asif's composition with DA 69 and Aidray, has punchy rap. Ashusen's voice suits Sapkota's progressive composition in Har Raat rather than in Na Ma Actor. Panthi's Jaleko Maya has great humming but the flow diverts. Manu's voice is great but he should concentrate on better compositions. All nine singers have a great future. Basan is back. He has tried different genres and vocal styles. The album has live session instruments. Kasto Yo Prajatantra, a song in 6/8 rhythm has beautiful intro with flute and guitar plucks. The lyrics are touching and the choir is remarkable. The funk-based pop song Daiba Janos is a catchy number featuring Trishna Gurung. Bhana Ko Chaina Swarthi is the best song in Emerge. Love You Forever, an English single, could have been better. With proper orchestration and progression, the album could be better. Emerge proves Basan's potential. Ganatantra has 12 tracks of speech compiled to make an album. For music lovers, this album has background music in pentatonic scale only. All tracks contain satirical texts recorded in the form of speech. Mani Kafle talks about the past and present political scenario of Nepal, caste discrimination, conflict, revolution and more. This album presents a surface picture of the then and present Nepal in socio-political context. Listeners with similar views will enjoy his album. It might have been better if Kafle had also come up with productive future plans. Nepali Music Chart 1.
