Education Tribhuvan High School in Trishuli, then studied Commerce in Public Youth Campus. Claim to fame First South Asian woman to qualify in taekwondo for the 2004 Olympics.
Started out after SLC to study in Kathmandu.
Learnt taekwondo at age 16 from a dojang in Tripureswor and got hooked. In three months, I was competing in national championships and studying commerce. I never thought I'd be a professional sportsperson, especially since I used to be a sickly child. At age seven, I suffered burns when my clothes caught fire while lighting a diyo.
First injury Left foot, tore a ligament.
Practice Two hours everyday from 7AM-9AM, for 17 years now. At noon, I go home and rest then hangout with friends or family, go hiking.
Music is medicine for the soul, especially for us sportspersons. My current favourite is Raju Lama. I listen to all kinds of music. I play the madal but am a pretty bad singer and dancer. I attend parties with the moral support of friends.
Favourite TV Channel Ten Sports, to watch live games.
Sports Football, I played in the women's team once and won the Best Player award.
World Cup 2006 I'm rooting for Argentina because Maradona is my all-time favourite footballer. After Olympics 2004 Expectations were too high. Getting qualified itself was a big thing. I feel bad that people don't believe in me now. I was injured before I left and I could have done better. There was a lot of pressure too and I didn't bring home a medal. I haven't thought about Olympics again.
Favourite place Melbourne, Australia. I was there for the Asian Championship in 1996, which I won. It was so peaceful and that place has so many good memories.
Kollywood I did agree to play a martial arts role in Durga, a film by Shobhit Basnet but my foot was injured so I backed out. I've promised that next time there's a martial arts role, I'll do it.
