Party without alcohol can be fun and a recent dance party in Dharan with non-alcoholic products proved it. An open street dance party was organised in Shiva Marga where smoking and drinking was strictly banned. The event marked the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Dharan partygoers who usually have a cigarette in one hand and beer in the other were seen distributing anti-drug leaflets. Thousands enjoyed music dished out by DJs Rabi, Mirak and Double B. Jivan Limbu, a regular partygoer, said, "I never thought I'd enjoy a party so much without drinking." Dipak Thapa who won the Ethnic and Sober Dress Up and Dance contest said such programmes should be organised frequently to make the anti-drug campaign effective. (Rabin Giri, Dharan)
