Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's 100th death anniversary was celebrated in Nepal with aplomb. Musicians from Norway came together with Nepali musicians to perform jazz numbers inspired by the artiste's 1867 play Peer Gynt on 23 May at Birendra International Convention Centre. Nepali poets also read out works influenced by the master himself. On 24 May, the concert was staged at Basantapur Durbar Square. The free and open show saw mass turnout. The Nepali public cheered as the musicians played until the sun set on the ancient square. Organised in association with Rikskonsertene (Norway), Music Nepal, Jazzmandu and nepa~laya, the event showed that creativity crosses all barriers.
