Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has demanded clarification from Mehboob Alam for his interview to WAVE magazine last month. As penalty, they did not allow him to play in the qualifying match of the regional cricket being held in Kathmandu. Alam, in his interview, had said that cricket in Nepal lacked professionalism and the financial situation of the players including him meant that they had to look for other options. "I spent seven years as a cricketer, now they are asking for clarification and barring me from playing a professional game," said Alam adding that CAN should have analysed what he had said and tried to improve their system. Though the player has signed a six-year contract with Set Club in Qatar, he says he'll return to play for Nepal if CAN asks him to.
