IEC Designer Contest was an out-of-the-box exhibition of fashion ideas. Models sashayed on the ramp in dresses made of camera rolls, truck tires, paper, plastic, egg crates, broomsticks, hairpins, prepaid cards, jute, ribbons, wires, cigarette packs, carpets, coins, shaving blades and even fruits like lemon and spices like chilly. Whew! You name it, they had it. Around 157 designers, from Kathmandu and Pokhara, participated in the contest held at Hyatt Regency on 25 August. Samita Adhikari won the Best Designer award, Anu Baba Rayamajhi and Sanam Gurung were first and second runners-up.
