The three women refused to reply and walked away. One of them men then drove the auto and ran over Durga. She was severely injured in the head and later in the night died at the Government General Hospital.'
The accident happened recently in the Southern state of Tamil Nadu in India.
The situation in Nepal may not be as bad, but the eve-teasing behaviour among Katmandu men is getting worse by the day. Earlier the streets used to be being the safe for everyone. Now, even men can't walk alone safely after dark. Verbal abuses against the women's are so common that if you ask any female member of your family who goes out regularly, they have been victims of it. From unnecessary cruel remarks to every turning, in a galli or even on the main streets. Physical abuses are also not unheard of, as you will read in our articles this issue.
Why do guys eve tease? There can be psychological and social aspects to it. But whatever the reasons, it is totally unacceptable social behavior and the authorities should gear up to put a stop to it. It is an act of crime, as robbery, violent attacks or even murders that has been on the rise too on our streets.
