Born and brought up in Shillong, Sanoop Paudel enjoyed singing. In his teens he had a band called Yummy Guys singing Hindi songs as that was in demand. They traveled around north east India performing in small venues. It was then that he was noticed by blues, rock 'n' roll group Ashwamedha Band, who invited him to join them as a vocalist. He agreed and remembers his days as a totally new experience singing western music. Although it wasn't his style, he experimented and learnt a lot. He misses performing live with them in the present and keeps in touch with the band members who are very happy for him.  In 1996 they released their debut self titled album, recorded in Guwahati and distributed in Nepali by Indreni Cassette Center.

Sanoop came to Nepal for further education and joined sociology in Tribhuvan University but later took a course in ethnomusicology in Kathmandu University. There, he teamed up with his friend Prabin Tamang who composed, arranged, and wrote lyrics for his breakthrough single Samjhana Aaidincha in 2002. He considers it his big break. Sanoop is very grateful to his friends. Albert Bajracharya, a businessman and one of his friends, took the initiative to produce his first solo album - Voice, marketed by Samjhana Audio Video (SAV), which is currently in the market.

Sanoop is a music teacher at Navraj Music Institute. Teaching is a tiring job but observing the perseverance of his students keeps him going. 'There are some bright stars who have a good future', he says but refrains from mentioning names at the moment. According to him, being recognized as a singer is important as he is identified for his voice, which is why he titled his album Voice and is now doing his round around FM stations, giving interviews and promoting his album. His single Sambhandha was composed by Lochan Rijal, a friend from KU and that's one of his favorite songs in the album. Having heard his album, now he realizes that the recording could be better, he feels he needs more practice. Although melody is important in a song, it's not everything. It has to have expression of some sort. He still considers himself an upcoming singer. There is scope in the Nepali music industry and with hard work, it can be done. He concludes by saying he's optimistic.
