Music and style by LOCHAN RIJAL
This album has melodious songs with similar styles of music arrangement. Folk based Kahile aiye thapakai is followed by the soulful Hami dubai which has beautiful lyrics. Hasna deu is punchier in comparison to other songs. There is repeated application of similar instruments in most of the songs in this album. Situ Kharel has her own feel and individuality in her vocals but she still has space for improvement. This album has songs of similar music styles except some like Khushi, a country flavoured number. Some of them might touch listeners. Baleko ago is a beautiful song. This is sure to help Lohani reach out. Sayad has simple guitar works and good flute pieces but vocally, it could be better. Tabala, flute and a bit of symphony adds to Timro aadhar's arrangement. Tara Tipi has elements of rock. Lohani needs more vocal practice for the long run. Recorded well, this album has an arrangement style that works throughout such as in Aakhama, Aa ba ma and Chokho maya. Chanchale begins like a samba but changes sometimes into bhangra-style music. Zhumyo zhuymo is catchy and Timi sanga is soothing. Hem seems to have a good sense of music, and it would be even better if he concentrated more on originality. Note: These albums have been reviewed on the basis of their respective genres. Lochan Rijal is a student of Masters in Ethnomusicology at Kathmandu University and has two albums to his credit.
