A press conference was held for the 5th solo photo exhibition of Pradeep Yonzon at Soaltee Crown Plaza. The dignitaries present were, among others, Mr. Pradeep Yonzon, president of Chomulungma UNESCO Center, Hari Bangsha Kirant, General Manager of Soaltee Mr. Chatterjee, and Programme Co-ordinator Shrijana Nakarmi.

Mr. Hari Bangsha Kirant said that Chomulungma is a non-profitable, non-government organization, that is fully pledged to the high ideals of UNESCO. It aims to promote and research works relating to Nepali art, literature and culture and bring the findings to light. To organize paintings, photo and cultural exhibitions at central and local levels and promote new talents in the fields of arts, literature and culture. To establish rapport between Nepalis and foreign artists and writers who are committed to the enhancement of art, literature, and culture. And to work for the preservation and promotion of Cultural and natural Heritage of Nepal.

Mr. Chatterjee, on the other hand, expressed his true pleasure to sponsor Euphoria - the 5th solo exhibition of Pradeep Yonzon, and was proud to be part of this event. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev graciously inaugurated the exhibition on 7th March, 2001.
Mr. Pradeep hasn't taken any professional training in photography. In his earlier days he was highly interested in music too. In the year 1986 he had published an album titled Jagen Sara Raat. When asked if he is planning to go back to music he says that photography has now become his passion and we know he means what he says. Photography is also an art. You need to have an artistic eye and the mind to captivate an image at a precise moment. And believe me, Pradeep Yonzon has it all within him. The opening ceremony of his exhibition as well as his photographs were both fantastic.

All his photographs captivated life within itself. It is not just a dull reflection of what he has photographed. His images portray a whole new dimension of life, love, faith, solidarity, quest and so on. He gives his photographs desired titles only after developing them. And his titles are as perfect as his photos. The theme of his exhibition was Euphoria, which means "state of well being and pleasant excitement" and you certainly feel 'euphoric' when you view his photographs.

My personal favourites were Radiating Hope - portraying a flash of ray coming in from the window in a dark room. Out here the ray represents the ray of hope, which is always present in everyone's life. Eternal Quest - the river depicts the quest. And one can see the photographer lurking around in a quest. Intricate Strength - the rock and the muddy material are all in chaos but still the wall stands with such strength. The photographer has been able to define the function of a non-living being.
