WHAT'S UP
Musicians VS. media (Kathmandu) July 13, 2002
Team (Musicians)- Team Media - World Cup has ended, but football fever never wanes. Last month, Wave coordinated with Dinesh Rai (guitarist, singer and columnist) to organise a friendly match between musicians and media people. On the ANFA ground in Satdobato (courtesy ANFA), the two team collided in a World Cup-like fashion complete with a suicide goal and a red card booking. In what we believe to be a very surprising and unexpected end, Team Musician beat Team Media 5:3. The Media team did manage to keep the game on their side for much of the first half with early two goals, but slowed down after the 'controversial' red card booking against Bipluv Pratik, a defence player, who accidentally handled the ball near the goal. With the media team playing with one less player, the second half was mostly dominated by the extraordinary performance of the substitute goal keeper of the Musician team, Robin Tamang. With him blocking every ball that came his way, the media team had to be content with what they gathered in the first half. After Yogeshwor Amatya accumulated two goals for his team, the game came to an end with Anup's well intended header back pass to the goal keeper which turned into a suicide goal. The unanimously agreed man of the match - Robin Tamang. | ||||||||||||||||||||
